Sharon is the founder, owner and an instructor at kula-kamala-yoga, an insured E-RYT registered with Yoga Alliance, she is also the creator and lead instructor of the kula-kamala-yoga Yoga Therapy Internship program at DEBORAH Heart and Lung Center, and a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists). She began practicing yoga in her early twenties and has completed over 1000 teacher training hours in Anusara Yoga, Sivananda Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga. Sudha has studied yoga philosophy under the grace and guidance of H.H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. Sudha is a Level II Reiki practitioner. Sudha's belief that we are all "lifelong students" has resulted in continuous dedication to her own training and practice. Her teaching style is energetic and playful and her classes focus on embracing the beauty and goodness that resides within. Sudha believes yoga is a complete healing tradition and that there is a practice appropriate for every individual. In addition to teaching yoga Sharon holds an PhD in Anthropology with a focus in Biological Archaeology. Her research focuses on and she has published scholarly articles on the relationship between ancient diet and disease. Her academic work requires her to have advanced knowledge of human skeletal anatomy and she is considered a expert in anatomy. Sharon is also the founder of Kula Kamala Foundation, a 501c3 dedicated to bringing the science and healing of yoga and its associated modalities to special needs populations throughout the community. Through the Foundation, Sharon and a team of dedicated and highly skilled yoga therapists, PTs, Social workers and other professionals work to provide education in yoga to those who might otherwise not have access to that education. Clients include OCMHI, CPC, DEBORAH, Fort Monmouth, Joint Base McGuire - Dix - Lakehurst, and several other organizations and individuals. Sharon has also composed, produced and recorded three CDs of intellectual experimental folk rock, she is an artist in several mediums including computer graphics, pencil and acrylic, she has published poetry, and designs yoga inspired tee shirts. Sharon has acted on stage and screen and is a member of several social and environmental organizations including PETA, Amnesty International, Sierra Club, and Green Peace.
